W.A.T.E.R. – We Always Treat Everyone Respectfully

Water – one of the essentials of life, is St. Anthony’s theme for the 2009-2010 school year. The implementation of a theme began a number of years ago, and in 2004 St. Anthony’s School won a “Best Practice” award from the Diocese of Paterson for its theme-based focus for each year. That Best Practice Award was renewed this year, with many changing themes throughout the years.
With WATER, we renew the commitment to treat one another, our teachers, our siblings, our parents and indeed, everyone with whom we come in contact, with the respect each person deserves. The Gospels tell us that Jesus showed care and compassion for all including the outcasts – lepers, sinners, tax collectors, as well as those who were considered to be “inferior” – Samaritans, women, and children. He regarded everyone with the dignity every human being deserves.
This year we will focus on character education – the formation and encouragement of those values that form a person in the way Jesus models. The values of caring, compassion, trustworthiness, honesty, good citizenship and certainly respect will be shown by example each day.
In the beginning of the school year there will be many bulletin boards and the school decorations will echo the theme of “WATER” – but even more importantly, “We Always Treat Everyone Respectfully” will be the motto to live by this year at St. Anthony’s School.
